Kickstarting FC2 on Dell PowerEdge 1750
26 May 2004 00:00
Been banging my head against some new Dell PowerEdge 1750s trying to install Linux on them. In particular I'd like to get Fedora Core 2 on them. Of course that's not officially 'supported' but I'd like to try and get it working nonetheless. The main problem I've been up against is getting a kickstart install going using the Remote Access Controller (which is a major pain to deal with IMO). I came across this thread on the Dell mailing lists. Apparently I can turn on an embedded telnet server and manage the machine (including seeing the console) via this telnet interface. Nice, but we'll see if I can get any farther.
